In Maharashtra Filed :
BJP MLA Milind Ramji Narote of Gadchiroli in Maharashtra filed and registered a complaint that its statement was defamatory, derogatory, and socially divisive, causing some disharmony to the public. Thereupon the Gadchiroli Police lodged an FIR under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, among others:
- 196(1,A,B)) (inciting hatred amongst groups),
- 356(2,3) (defamation)
- 352 (intentional insult in intent to provoke a breach of peace),
- Section 353(2) (public mischief).

In Uttar Pradesh (Shahjahanpur) FIR Filed :
In Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh, a separate complaint was
filed by the local city president of the BJP Shilpi Gupta in Sadar Bazar Police
Station which also led to FIR. The charge, in this case, was on the lines of
the indecorous remark of Yadav that essentially injured the collective feeling
of the people. The FIR used the sections
- 353(2) (spreading rumors)
- 197(1)A (using images to make allegations)
